I’m back!

Finally got the initiative to start working on the website again. I’ve resolved the file size upload issue that was preventing me from posting my photography, did some doodling and brainstorming for a couple of days to figure out how to divide my site up, installed a wordpress template and discovered it wouldn’t work for one of my projects, installed a second template specifically for that project, installed a plugin that let me alter the fonts so that the two blogs would still look similar, installed a wiki for a third project, and did a lot of puttering around and troubleshooting.

Unfortunately, I can’t just put in an hour a day or something. With the way my mind works, I have to put together the entire framework, all at once. My working memory can’t hold a lot at a time, so I need to flip between tabs and search things a dozen times and troubleshoot everything I possibly can, all in one extended session (which could cover multiple days in a row of being the main focus during that time). Once I move on to another main focus, I’ll lose a lot of the more specific knowledge about how I did things, only caring about how to make posts on the site.

The main purpose of this website is to post my free-to-use high-resolution photography in it’s own searchable archive, the Gallery / the Doing it for the Exposure wiki. But to do that, my choices are narrowed down to either a photography wordpress site, which seems daunting (especially since I have specific ideas about how it should look and operate, but a novice’s notions of how to make it happen), or put together a mediawiki site (which is also daunting, but very utilitarian and should allow for full-size downloads by anyone visiting the site, and is currently the likely winner).

But I do other things, too.

I have a lot of old poetry. A small amount of it is rather good, I think. And there are various things I’ve written over the years that I can copy and paste from elsewhere on the internet, maybe even edit and expand upon. My writings, whenever I manage to curate them or write more, will go into their own blog, the Notebook / Xer’s Notebook.

The Corkboard is where I’ll be posting images that are a little more meme-like. Quotes from various people, including me, as typographic art and/or words over photos. That sort of thing. Maybe some drawings or sketches (very low skill level). Presented with minimal commentary.

Bookmarks is going to be a page of links to an assortment of things. Maybe social media personalities to follow, favorite podcasts, essays by other people, organizations I think deserve support, all sorts of things. Links and brief explanations of what/why I’m recommending, categorized.
